Golfseminaries en tentoonstelling op EU met oa. sportvanhetjaar

8 Europese golfinstanties hebben zich gegroepeerd om de golfsector beter te vertegenwoordigen binnen de EU te Brussel. R&A, de Europese Golf Federatie, de Europese Federaties van de greenkeepers, eigenaars, managers alsook golfarchitecten en de EuropeanTour proberen binnen de EU meer bekendheid te geven aan de golfsector inzake milieu, sociale aspecten en economie. 

Zij organiseerden op 7 mei een golfseminarie rond deze thema's alsook een tentoonstelling met de Solheim Cup ?n Ryder Cup in de hoofdrol. Ook de Vlaamse Gemeenschap, de VVG en de sportvanhetjaar waren aanwezig. 

Het was een hele eer voor de VVG dat Paul Eliaerts van www.sport.vlaanderen, in aanwezigheid van heel wat 'golf decision makers' en EU leden, een uiteenzetting gaf 'van golfmemorandum tot 'Sport van het jaar' over de inspanningen van de VVG en de goede samenwerking met de Vlaamse Overheid. Hij toonde aan dat dankzij de dynamische samenwerking met de overheid een totale blokkade inzake golfontwikkeling ondertussen, traag maar zeker, omgedraaid kan worden naar een positieve samenwerking met een breed draagvlak.

Uit de andere sessies kwamen er belangrijke opmerkingen en vragen over mogelijke toekomstige wetgevingen vanuit de EU zoals: BTW tarieven, pesticiden en water alsook de liberalisering van de golftrainer diploma's. Het is een goede zaak dat de golfsector dit van nabij volgt.
